Healthy Cinnamon Baked Apples

My mom was baking the other night and I felt left out so I decided to join her! (I must say, she is an amazing cook and puts ME to shame!) I’m a big fan of simple, easy and delicious recipes and this one fits that description perfectly! This was SO GOOEY, sweet and delicious! OH and did I mention CLEAN!?

Healthy Cinnamon Baked Apples

Ingredients:

  • Apple (I used a Gala apple)
  • Cinnamon
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • 0.5 – 1 ounce Chopped Walnuts (or nut of choice) – Optional
  • TB Pure Maple Syrup (or Natural Nut Butter of choice) – Optional

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Remove the core from the apple with a knife. Carefully hollow out part of the apple (don’t remove too much of the inside, just enough to be able to insert walnuts, spices & syrup. Add toppings to apple and place in the oven. Bake approximately 25 minutes or until soft (the length of time will depend on the size of your apple, so make sure to keep an eye on it!) Use a knife to check softness. When the apple is done, remove from the oven and allow to cool (the inside will be VERY hot). I chopped mine up to allow it to cool. Once it’s cool enough, add the maple syrup (or nut butter) and enjoy!
